You need a new Social Security lawyer, but you hired the wrong one once. Unfortunately, firing a lawyer can be a problem. Not in the actual firing, but in the hiring of your next one. Some lawyers try to avoid taking cases from another lawyer; they consider it almost like «case stealing.» There are other reasons, namely how much your case is worth. If you’re pretty far along in your case, the lawyer may make less money. On the other hand, many lawyers are more than willing to help a new client even after another lawyer is fired. It differs from person to person.

Representation. Esquire, civil suit attorney near me, Attorney, Counselor, Abogado. We have so many names for them and so many feelings about them: love, respect… and some other feelings too. Most attorneys don’t handle collection cases and know nothing about collections, and the ones that do usually charge an hourly fee of $200 or more per hour. Some might even take your case on contingency, but you’ll usually have to pay the «hard costs» involved in collections, which can be anywhere from tens to thousands of dollars. Attorneys have many ways of making money, so they are usually only going to take your case if they are certain it’s collectible.

Unfortunately, more people have filed bankruptcy in 2009 than in past years and it shall only increase as we approach 2010. Thus, ask around. Find out who has handled bankruptcy related issues amongst your relatives, friends and loved ones. Ask around your area. For dealing with bankruptcy is difficult and you do not want to make it worse on your family by choosing a lawyer who is not an expert in the field. You need someone with a reputable history of success in handling it with ease. Questioning those you know in similar scenarios is a great way to find out about an attorney before hiring him/her.

abogado The most accurate and the most exact way of knowing your lawyer’s charge for the closing is asking him or her about it. It is important that you have a constant communication with your lawyer so that you can talk this thing over. Having a healthy relationship with your lawyer is really a big help in determining his or her charge for the closing. Who knows, you might also have some discounts if you enjoy a healthy relationship with your lawyer.

For example, if murder is the charge, then don’t make the mistake of hiring a lawyer that specilizes in DUI cases only. Be specific about the charges against you so you can determine if a particular lawyer will be your best help or not.

Cost: Generally lawyers are expensive, but don’t just pick a lawyer because he’s expensive or because you think he’s reasonable. The most expensive lawyers are not always the best and those who don’t charge an arm and a leg may be fantastic. As such don’t make price your primary deciding factor when selecting the right lawyer for your needs.

Once you gather your information, you want weigh the costs versus the services. Each lawyer charges for different things. Some charge by the minute; some charge by 8th of the hour. You want to know if the lawyer charges for postage or hand-delivering documents. Do not forget that this is additional to the court fees. You want a lawyer who you feel comfortable with, who listens to your needs, and communicates well. Remember this person needs to represents your interests to the best of his or her ability. The cost he or she charges does not accurately reflect the service you are going to receive. For example, you can go with the biggest named law firm and have the worse lawyer on your team.

Ask your attorney if he is willing to try a case that does not settle. Often times these types of cases will require a court battle, and you do not want to locate an attorney for an accident that is not willing to go to court with you.

Don’t assume you need a big blue chip firm. I come from several big blue chip law firms. They do great law and sometimes you need the «brand» or «label» of the big law firm next to you, for instance if you’re going public. But for more routine work, you don’t need such a firm. They are expensive and comprise many layers. So for you to deal with the top dog, you will be paying up to $1,000 per hour, or more. If your budget is one quarter of this, you will mostly be dealing with a junior associate who will not have the business experience you are looking for. It really depends on your needs, and your budget.
