Before you remove the bed, either off of a truck at the junkyard or off of your personal truck, there are a few things you need to do first. Unbolt the gas cap and line first. Almost every truck has the fuel access running into the bed of the truck, so that is where you typically start first. After that, you need to remove the grounding strap that goes from the cab of the truck to the bed. Both of these items are easy to remove. As well, you need to disconnect the light from the back of the truck bed. The lights should have some quick disconnect places so that they can be disconnected with little effort.
Believe it or not, you might be able to sell your used tires. If they are in usable shape, but simply need a patch, a junkyard might be willing to buy them from you in order to repair and then resell them. In fact, you can actually make quite a bit of money selling used tires to the right classic cars for sale if you shop around to find one that will pay a decent price. Cars and trucks that are 1995 or newer, as of 2010 must have the title. Junk cars that are more than 15 years old don’t require a title. Also having a registration can help in some cases it depends on your location and state rules/regulations.

Find a inspiring old salvage door at your local antique store, salvage yard, thrift store or a yard or estate sale. Any regular passage door will work but the truly great project will have at its nucleus a multi-panel, chipped paint or interestingly detailed salvage door. Be sure the door is «solid core» which means that the entire door is solid wood rather than a «hollow core» which is basically a frame with outer skin of laminated wood and hollow in the center. A hollow core door will not give you places to secure the bench or structural integrity against the elements.

This is your big debut and if you mess it up, people will remember it for a long time. This can make it really stressful, but if you have really worked hard at it and have thought of everything that could happen, you will be OK and have a great experience.
