Baked Ham is my children’s most-loved meal of all time! A Thanksgiving dinner on any day of the year (or holiday) is worth it for ham. The ham baked in this recipe is soft, moist and delicious on the inside. The exterior is drizzled with a brown sugar glaze and caramelized for a hint of sweetness. We love serving this ham baked on special events (like Easter and Christmas) but it’s also easy to cook any time of season! I’ll be honest I am a huge fan of turkey dinner (mostly I just love stuffing) however, I’m outnumbered around here since everyone else is voting for on ham. Crock Pot Ham is something I often make because it’s so easy, however I have to admit that like the flavorful roasted aroma of a baked ham. Baking hams isn’t difficult, you just have keep an eye on the temperature to make sure it heats through without over cooking. A brown sugar glaze over baked Ham takes it to the next stage without becoming too sweet. Most of the time when you buy Ham, it’s been smoked meaning it’s cooked. Make sure to check the packaging to be sure your ham is fully cooked. It should also include the recommended cooking temperature. When cooking ham, you’ll need to pre-heat your oven, then place the ham with its cut side down. To secure the ham to keep it safe, wrap the ham in foil. Before the ham bakes, brush it with the brown sugar glaze. This recipe makes use of bones in ham because bone-in ham produces the best flavor and is extremely tender (plus we like to have bones from ham left over to make our favourite Crock Pot Ham and Bean Soup). A bone-in fully cooked ham will take around 12-14 minutes for cooking for this recipe. A 9lb ham will require about 2 quarters of an hour. It’s easy to overcook ham . To get the perfect baked ham, I recommend using a thermometer similar to this one. I have one , and simply put the ham into the oven during the cooking process and check the temperature for perfect results. It is also recommended to read a cooking guide on the label of the ham purchased for cooking times but thermometers are the most precise. In this recipe I add my preferred Brown Sugar Glaze to ham. I use, obviously brown sugar, and the juice of a pineapple (orange juice is also great). The glaze is delicious without being too sweet and adding an incredible sticky coating the exterior of the Ham. I add an extra step (about 4 minutes additional time) to thicken the glaze slightly because this helps it stick to the ham better. The recipe is made using either light or dark brown sugar. But dark brown sugar has a more intense flavor. Like all things that are high in sugars, the brown sugar glaze can burn if left too long in the oven so it’s added only for the last 15 minutes. When the brown sugar glaze has thickened and is cooling then the ham is removed from the oven and the heat is cranked up. Apply the glaze to the ham before putting back into the oven. The high temperature will create the most stunning golden glaze in only a few minutes! When you’re ready to cut your ham, let it rest 15 minutes to keep the perfect juiciness. If you are cooking ham with bones, you’ll need around 3/4 1 pound per person. If there are leftovers (for Ham and Corn Chowder, Cheesy Ham or Potato Casserole) then you’ll need some more. 8lbs of ham can feed about 9 people. This delicious brown sugar ham typically served during Easter dinner or Christmas dinner. To make the perfect meal, we serve it with our favourite side dishes! Combine dijon mustard and pineapple juice. If your ham has a disk of plastic on the bone, it needs to be removed and discarded. The ham should be placed flat-side-down in a roasting tray and cover it with foil. Bake for Charbroil Gas Grills (Runetsecretsx.Ru) 12-15 minutes or according to the package instructions. Meanwhile, combine glaze ingredients, and bring to an unbeatable boil. Reduce the heat to a low setting and let it simmer for about 2 minutes. Then, brush with glaze and return to oven until the glaze is cooked and the ham is at the safe cooking temperature.
