The word tui na (also called twee naw) refers to a wide array of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic manipulations and bodywork. Traditional application of Tui Na has been used for the relief of emotional and physical issues like restlessness and insomnia, anxiety, depression and irritability. It can also be utilized to treat and diagnose other conditions, such as constipation, asthma and arthritis. Tui Na is not generally used for leisure and pleasure however, it is used as part of the diagnosis and treatment process for specific disorders.

The benefits of Tui Na are not entirely recognized in Western medicine, however studies show that it offers some benefit for those suffering from mild to moderate pain, particularly when applied during a period of stress. Four researchers published a study of 12 stroke patients treated with Tui Na in a July 2021 issue of The American Journal of Sports Medicine. Patients had normal symptoms with low levels of fatigue depression, and anxiety. Three of the twelve treated patients with Spasticity improved, while two others showed no improvement or worsened. No between-group differences were noted in the time or treatment effects on variables like pain, functioning, or mood.

The researchers analyzed and came to conclusions from twelve articles on the tui na. One was a meta-analysis. The other was a crossover study and the other six were derived from the original published article itself. The meta-analysis consisted of a comparison between twelve articles published about spasticity, tui na and reporting formats. It revealed an statistically significant mean change, with more significant results in spasticity than for tui nua.

The study of crossover is a an additional analysis that examines the effects of two therapies: physiotherapy and physical therapy, as well as chiropractic therapy on the severity of post-stroke upper limb spasticity. Chiropractic treatment alone showed significantly more effect than physiotherapy alone, although the difference was not significant. A subgroup of patients comparing those within 1 month of their onset to those with advanced and severe disease demonstrated a significant treatment effect. There was no other group that was superior to chiropractic care in this subgroup. Therefore, the authors concluded that chiropractic treatment could be beneficial following a stroke.

The third study is the biggest and the most promising. It evaluated Chinese medical practices with chiropractic in poststroke spinal cord stimulation. Both groups had similar symptoms. SCT is a procedure that stimulates nerve compression, and decreases the muscle tone to aid in recovery. In this procedure needles are inserted into specific points along the spine column. Both methods can be beneficial, however the Chinese massage experts appear to be superior regarding pain control and recovery time.

The scan was conducted by chiropractors who used the diagnostic imaging software. They then used manipulative hands on the upper and lower extremities as well as the spine. After four week treatment period there was an improvement in all the areas of the study’s patients. Chiropractors had a higher rate of improvement than surgeons. A month later, poststroke spasticity was less. For most patients it was not necessary. Spinal mobilization did not cause soreness or stiffness.

Chiropractors had a greater percentage of patients successfully treated however their rate of success was less than surgeons. Chiropractic patients randomly assigned to chiropractors showed significantly higher rates of complete improvement after the four-week poststroke Spinal Decompression time. During the first month of treatment there was no distinction between the two patients at their post-operative appointments. Random assignment was carried out to find out which group had the most improvement. It was surprising to see that chiropractors showed greater improvement than surgeons in both the preoperative as well as the postoperative visits.

The research was carried out by Drs. Maurer, Kornmehl, and 탱크출장안마 Jick who all are recognized leaders in spinal health. This study is especially noteworthy due to the importance of chiropractic care for patients suffering from stroke and their families.
