bajatey raho is a fine film and i had a great time watching it. its one of those rare films that do not fail to make me chuckle. the direction is slick and the screenplay is tight. i wish the film had had a few more two-dimensional characters to complement the 3-dimensional ones that we do see. however, its a bit of a shame that the film feels somewhat derivative and looks more like any other hindi film than a one-of-its-kind piece of work. its a thought that has kept me busy since i watched the film. i am sure i wont be alone.
this feels like something a music jingle ad would do. a lot of the sequences are pure theatre – at least in terms of lighting and props. this might have suited tusshar and i and others with a certain style of acting, but i felt like there was a lot more in this movie that could have been done. i dont think this was a first time ensemble movie. its a first time indian ensemble comedy movie, if that makes sense. first time at all. i think if you were to compare bajatey raho and the great indian comedy show, there is nothing in common.
the chemistry between the leads works. that is the only reason why i will watch a movie like this. sashant knew that and that is what made it work. i have done movies where the chemistry is strong and its not funny. i have done movies where the joke is strong and the chemistry isn’t. bajatey raho has a lot of that. it has a lot of the jokes which are funny. but it’s not one of those movies which had every single joke got you laughing. there were scenes which just didnt work.
but really, this is a pretty good dialogue writer. i never said that. i said that tusshar is a good dialogue writer. i said that ranvir was a great dialogue writer. in a movie like bajatey raho, i don’t think you will find anything of that calibre. the cast is funny too. it’s all over. i hope you see it and make your own judgment.
