Check your tires. Are they badly tarnished or are the treads severely worn? You may have to replace some tires. There are special products that can clean tires and bring out the shine.
The next step is to find a repair shop to fix your car. What you will want to do is find a place that will use the car parts you want used in the repair of your car. This is an important step, because some repair shops will use after market parts automatically, but you have to stipulate if you want them to use OEM parts. Unfortunately, it isn’t unheard of for shops to use after market parts while still charging you OEM prices, which if you didn’t know are more expensive.
Just like Duchamp used ready mades and called them art, such as his piece called the «Fountain» which was actually a used urinal, car parts and auto parts can be used as art ready mades. You can take an old bumper or hub cap and call it a piece of artwork. Just simply sign your name to it, put it on a platform, and you have yourself a ready made. Or take an old windshield and smear it with paint and you can be engaging in a type of performance art. Contemporary art can be so many things, and it can even go as far as to creating art from old car parts and auto parts. There is so much that can be done with these old vehicle parts. You can also use them for a science fair and do tests on old vehicle parts to compare how new parts function better than old used car parts parts.
Oil Leak: My 1993 Toyota Camry had a small oil leak. My grandpa told me to carry oil in my trunk and not worry about it. Several months later I was driving from Montana to California by myself for the first time. I was on my way home with no thoughts about breaking down in a little town called Madris, Oregon. My car would not start. By the grace of God I broke down in the parking lot of an auto parts store. They directed me to the local mechanic.
Next on our to-do list is the air filter. This is another easy thing to do. Under the hood of your car there is a big black box with some clips on it. Just unclip the top of the box and you have found your air filter. Most of them slide out pretty easily and you can check to see how dirty it is. You can blow it out or vacuum it, but if the manual says it’s time to change it you probably should. The last time someone at a repair shop wanted to change it for me I said now and I was glad I did. They wanted $40 to do it! I went to an auto parts store instead and bought one for $15 and put it in myself. It took less than 30 minutes including the amount of time it took to buy it and I saved $25. So now you can save $25 and get better gas mileage.
Number 7 is to check the tyres for even wear and legal tread depth. As a rule of thumb, you should be able to stand a 10p coin upright between the tread. Unequal wear of the tread can indicate an issue with the car leaning to or favouring one wheel. This could be something as simple as the tracking but could be more serious.
Prepare your car’s VIN or Vehicle Identification Number. This will provide the dealer with the right information about your car which includes the model, year and make. Your VIN will come in handy especially when buying drive train parts like transmissions and engines.
Buy online. The advent of the internet means that you no longer need to visit scrap yards to get hold of used or salvaged business coaching. There are many online sources from eBay to specialist scrap yard sites that will submit your part request to numerous sites for free, you then just sit and wait for them to come to you.
Talk to your father or grandfather and see if he says «gas station» or «service station». Why do older generations use «service station» instead of «gas station»? Because they used to do more than just get gas and drive off. Check your fluid levels, tire pressure, and just give your vehicle a good once over. This will keep your car running in tip-top shape.
