If your car is looking drab on the outside, go ahead and get that makeover. A little paint job can do wonders for an older car. It will make your car look shiny and new. Some people may even ask you when you got a new car. Especially if you get new rear view mirrors too; that will really add to the new look.

Try and buy used. This isn’t always a good idea but on certain things it is usually easy to get a great deal on part used stock. If you hunt around you may find the part you are looking for at an amazing discount due to the fact that they are no longer new. If you have an old car this may be your only option.

Before you remove the bed, either off of a truck at the junkyard or off of your personal truck, there are a few things you need to do first. Unbolt the gas cap and line first. Almost every truck has the fuel access running into the bed of the truck, so that is where you typically start first. After that, you need to remove the grounding strap that goes from the cab of the truck to the bed. Both of these items are easy to remove. As well, you need to disconnect the light from the back of the truck bed. The lights should have some quick disconnect places so that they can be disconnected with little effort.

Arrange for a deal. Make an appointment for the salvage yard to pick up your car. If your car is still driveable, you may be able to make more money on the deal by taking it to the yard yourself.

While junk yards are one of the most common places where you can find used parts, they’re not the only places. Though, you will always get much better deals at junkyards than any other place. Most of the damaged and old vehicles always have a number of spares that work perfectly well. Sometimes these parts are almost new. The only problem with junkyards is that at most of the times you will have to locate and remove the spare part yourself. On the flipside, this saves your money on labor charges that some other dedicated stores might charge you.

Keep in mind that junkyards are similar to swap meets in that most prices are negotiable. This is especially true when you’re buying parts that are not in good condition. Ask for a discount or offer a lower price. freshwater fishing will often agree just to move the inventory. That being said, you can expect to pay nearly half of the cost of a new part. For example, a water pump for a BMW 740i may cost $140 new. Expect to pay $70 (in cash) at the junkyard.

It’s sometimes the only option. With classic cars and out of production models, using salvage car parts is sometimes the only way to get your hands on parts. Many classic car marques actually have a substantial salvage parts business that has grown up around them, and networks of enthusiasts are a great way to source parts at a price that won’t break the bank.
