Carlos Correa reached a contract agreement with the  late Tuesday night after his previous deal with the fell apart over issues , message15931 the New York Post reported.

The free agent shortstop and the Mets agreed to a 12-year, $315 million contract, per the Post, a step down from the 13-year, $350 million pact Correa was due to get from the Giants.He was set to be introduced as San Francisco’s newest acquisition on Tuesday before the press conference was abruptly canceled.

With the deal, club owner Steve Cohen’s payroll is roughly $384 million for 2023, according to ESPN. But that omits around $111 million in MLB luxury taxes, bringing Cohen’s bill to $495 million. 

‘I’ve been dealing with big numbers for so long these numbers don’t scare me at all,’ Cohen told the .’It’s not like I’m not respectful about what these other teams have to deal with.’
