I use a lot of Raw formats and I never (be able to) find a RAW converter which is fast and correct (so I miss Photoshop). And I know Adobe will do this (it should not take that long…) and that would make more people use RAW files and get more people interested in photography (important step…). Now, the most contentious subject is how well Lightroom 5 handles RAW. The answer is not well, and it’s not getting any better. Lightroom 5 has numerous bugs that will make it a hassle to use. AI Noise Reduction does not remove noise. All HDR images are dull as all get out and show all kinds of banding. The only thing Lightroom seems to do well is re-touch adjustments, and even that doesn’t work as well as it used to. Lightroom 5 is a much needed update, but it leaves much to be desired in the quality of the processing. And if that weren’t enough, it manages to fall short in many places Adobe had previously tried to control.
