The opera trained singer said she saw the self-made celebrity’s iconic billboards around Los Angeles when she was 13. ‘She knew the power of her image. She crafted this identity for herself. She’s living, breathing performance art.’

The passionate actress endured seven hours in the makeup chair so technicians could apply the prosthetics that transformed her into character and describes working in the costume as ‘physically and emotionally much harder than my 26 hour unmedicated labor.’

Emmy’s daughter, Samantha, whom she shares with husband, Sam Esmail, 44, will turn one May 24. 

Emmy shared they held the baby’s birthday party over the weekend and nearly brought her hosts to tears when she explained, ‘We had her party yesterday and there were, like, children all over our apartment and it was amazing, it was incredible, because it was the first time I felt like my whole self was there.’
