Every participant is dealt ten playing cards alternately. The remainder of the deck is placed face down in the middle of the table. The top card is turned face up and creates the discard pile. This card is called the knock card as a result of it establishes the knock limit (more later). A participant at random is given the opportunity to pick out this card or go it. If the card isn’t chosen it is offered to the opposite participant to take or pass. If that participant passes the subsequent player should draw a card fro the deck (the discard pile card is not out there).
