And third, by giving all your business to one shop, you become their «Bread and Butter». Funny thing about honest mechanics, they protect their bread and butter customers. They will bend over backwards to keep them happy. They need them. They are always providing little extras for them at no cost. You know, like replacing light bulbs and fixing little things that most people would overlook.

There are many forms of auto repair in everyone’s area. The first type of sailing charter that I’ll describe is national chain shops. The good thing about national chains is that you can be sure that their mechanics are A.S.E. Certified. And also, national chain shops such as Goodyear, Tuffy and all the rest usually have great warranties. There are anywhere from 30 days to 90 days on parts and/or labor. The drawback is that national chains are more expensive in most cases than what a privately owned auto repair shop charges.

Find a car mechanic or auto service center that offers a warranty on repair work. A six month warranty is great; three months is pretty good; one month is not as good. You should also check to see if the warranty covers both parts and labor.

Make a chart of the names and phone numbers of each auto parts store in your area. Call and get prices. It does not take long to get prices. Most of the stores will get you a price on the parts you need within minutes. Make sure you are comparing the auto parts properly. In other words, compare the same quality. I like to buy USA made parts as much as possible. It pays to get good quality when it comes to fixing your vehicle.

So what are some things you should keep an eye open when deciding on with repair shop to use? A nice family owned business always makes me feel comfortable. I find that when people are working for and with their family they have a lot more passion in their work. You become that much more important as a customer because it directly affects their whole family. They are not just working for some corporate company that they could give two licks about.

OYou can ask to see what work has been completed on your vehicle. Ask them to allow you to see what you were charged for. If you’re paying for this, you have every right to know what’s going on with your vehicle.
