There was a similar issue above. This exploit can be used for Windows, Linux or Mac. However, you would still need to get your path.

This is what worked for me, the old file_transfer.sh script in Slickdeals works from the command line via SSH. Using WinSCP to upload the firmware, and downloading the new_cfe.bin afterwards and overwriting it. Using this method, the SSH key would not be exposed in the router. You can run a reboot from the router, connect and have an SSH session open before overwriting the firmware, and then remotely reboot the router. This is one way I was able to get all my routers powered up at the same time. Once rebooted, I could use a USB stick to download the new_cfe.bin, and then copy it into the folder and overwrite it. If you’re using multiple routers, this can be handy.

obv I uploaded a new verion to the guide (thanks Steffen) now I am getting this error when the file is supposed to go from working to not working.I edited the putty.sh to have a new command as the Read at Command Station has 2 parts but im not sure what the file to the right of the putty program is?

First thing, I knew to do is rename new_cfe.bin to new_1.0.2.0_am.bin
Now, I renamed mtd-write and new_cfe.bin to new_cfe.bin and started to go through the command lines…
I stopped when i got to the security test. I knew the security question that we came up with, and I knew my router username/password and apn (feel free to add something here), but when it said «The following commands can NOT be protected! it says the following in 3 rows;
– create router-nic.conf,
– save,
– eeprom bak»

I was so pumped because I knew this is the point where I would either have to stop or ask in the forum where I could submit a ticket to a support person to help me. I knew that for the most part, if I felt like solving a problem myself, I could work a problem out…
So to continue on, I saved it. Then I went to the router UI and found the security question that we came up with earlier. When I typed it in, it told me that it didnt match my username/password! I tried it a few times before posting a ticket.
I did a quick test and found out that this is a good thing that I wrote the original security question. The problem was that I did not password protect the configuration before I changed my wifi settings (instead, I simply tried to sign in on the wifi and chose a new password…I would have to think through how to change my password.
So what I did was log in, change my password, then save configuration, then logout and sign back on. At this point, it worked fine and I could connect and have a new password. I submitted the ticket and went through the process of setting up a new password. My password was set within a couple of hours (and I changed the name and secret code so that there was no way for someone to know my old one).
In the chat window, someone called support and told them that someone from phone support had asked me what my previous password was and I told them my old one, they confirmed it and told me to reset my password and everything would be fine. So I went back to the router and told the new password (which I had password protected the config file with). I logged back on to the wifi and everything was great. Went to the router and confirmed everything was working fine.
I went to the command station and did an echo of the MAC adress of the new_cfe.bin and confirmed that it was in the right place, reset NVRAM (without doing the firmware upload), rebooted, did my update, and added my new_cfe.bin back into the root folder, and started the command that this site tells you to do.

Ok first thing to do while running this.. Make sure to save the CFE. Second thing.. If you want a quick test run.. change the prefix to the one you want to test.. then flash the firmware using mtd-write if you are going to be using their guide.. use theirs as the prefix.. I found that format easier to use. IF you are following the guide.. then use their prefix as the prefix.. then add in the parameters for what you want to test. (if flashing for the sake of testing.. then dont use any parameters) -.. – (dash) if you arent doing it for the sake of testing.. then dont bother putting any parameters in.. as the commands flash on there own after each command.. If you use their guide.. then continue on to step 32
I managed to do it with your method! The main difference was that I used WinRar instead of 7-Zip in order to extract the file from the zip file. I was able to do this successfully, and ran the command you supplied (cd /dev -command=mtd-write «/home/user/firmware/bootloader/AC68U_Firmware»/AC68U_ON/update.trx»), and it worked! I was able to update the firmware.
Its easy and I didnt even use the command information as well. All I had to do was press write at command station then unplugged USB while the power was on. I waited for 10 seconds and plugged back in with WPS held and waited until the flashing lights. After that I was able to write.
