Installing Adobe Photoshop is fairly simple and can be done in a few simple steps. First, you must download the program from the Adobe website. Then, download the installation.exe file from the website. Next, open the.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions. You may need to activate Adobe Photoshop after it is installed. You can do this in two ways – either by entering a serial number into the software, or by calling the customer service to get a code from their website. Once the activation is complete, you can use the software.
Looks like this is like everything else with Adobe: it’s a matter of keeping up. Nothing new here; the latest software is always quicker and has more features. But I’d like to point out that even with the latest and greatest software, the best way to get the best photographic quality is to use the RAW format for your final output. Most of these features aren’t even practical in the RAW format, so it’s a disadvantage to shoot in it.
The more advanced CS stuff is there, but I’m not sure if that’s anything more than a bunch of different methods for doing the same thing. If that’s all it’s ever going to be able to do, then it’s not a big advancement.
I have actually run into a ground cycle problem where I attempt to insert something into a layer and it crashes. Ive also had it crash three separate times with separate photo processing programs, which are both part of the Kodak Creative series, and neither of those have denied at the more recent versions of their photoshop programs. I would love a response from kodak, but I would like to note that the Creative suite is specifically designed for the “smaller” consumer, and the 16 or 32 megabyte K-State version of photoshop is essentially three separate instances running in parallel in the background, which is a pretty ridiculous approach for use on a personal desktop.
I was very happy to see the new features introduced in cs6. The ability to edit a layers mask and the new feature to apply a mask to multiple layers at once are huge time savers. However, since the release of this new version of photoshop, I’ve found problems with file corruption and crashes. Within the first two weeks of using it, I have already had 5 instances of the crashed editor and 2 instances of a corrupted file. There is also a lot of lag time between actions when layers are applied.
You can choose between several modes of operation when you edit a photograph in Photoshop. The first and most common is the Image mode. Typically you edit an image in this mode by dragging a selection box around a portion of the image that you want to edit, then you can make an adjustment to that selection (in my case on the levels) to see how different the scene looks. You can use layers and masks as well as even the Quick Selection tool to make selections very quickly. Sounds better than it sounds right now doesn’t it? I’ll get to that in a minute.
You can achieve a wide range of effects with the tools in Photoshop, such as shadow, highlight, and brightness adjustments. You can also reduce or even eliminate background images with tools called filters. Once you can reach a certain level, you can manipulate your images even more by warping them with the warp tool or by creating a new layer and tracing the portions of your image you want to keep, then painting over them with a paintbrush (I like that one).
