– –w-sphere: add a virtual sphere to the scene
– –w-skybox: add a virtual sphere to the scene
– –w-viewpoint: add a virtual sphere to the scene
– –w-ambient-point: add an ambient point to the scene

* Scattering and Reflection Parameters

– –mult-matrix: array of multiplicative material factor
– –diff-matrix: array of material factor for the difference (delta) rendering method
– –diff-matrix-two-pass: a special case of diff-matrix
– –matrix-file: matrix file

The basic parameters can be set in the standard configuration file. The default values are set for the lighting parameters:

LightTrace uses the AccuGrad algorithm to iterate over rays. LightTrace comes with two demo applications. The first demo is a demonstration of how to implement a very simple pathtracer that can simulate particles which are emitted from a sphere. The second demo is the classical rendering example.

It contains two configurations files — one for pathtracer and one for a simple rendering example. These can be easily modified to create new demos.

Installation

First, you need to download the archive file. This archive file contains a bitmap image. Then you need to extract this archive file to your disk. You need to know the path of this directory. You will need it later.

LightTrace is a text-based object-oriented raytracer with a basic 3D scene editor. It produces high quality stereo 2D and 3D graphics. It renders the scene in a frame buffer, so it can save the result as a bitmap image file. LightTrace is especially useful for raytracing images and 3D scenes that are larger than 100 KB and are vector-based.

Currently LightTrace supports directional lights, spotlight and spotlights, basic camera transformation, texture mapping, bump mapping, diffuse shading, ambient lighting, phong shading, specular shading, post processing and fading.

It is also possible to use PCL (Prefered Command Line) and/or external input text files to control LightTrace. This makes it possible to write custom shading algorithms. It is also possible to read RGB files for special rendering effects.

LightTrace can render a monochrome or a color image. It supports an arbitrary number of images per frame and the possibility to dynamically access each image separately.

LightTrace can support any combination of following pixel types:

* 1D DIN 16-color graphic (e.g. PNG file).
* 2D bitmap graphic in a 16-color mode.
