After writing and directing movies with a mass appeal, Kannan has hit a wall and he couldnt climb it. This is why, ‘Sultan’ is not a planned but a more on the improvisation. But with the director Kannan, we would see the high potential with a lower pull. On the whole, the effort and the sacrifice are immense on making a movie with a mass appeal, and Kannan has done it. But the direction, which looked a turnaround, has shown a tedious movie, and also the screenplay is poorly written which lacks an idea, intention and a reaction on the audiences. After reading the screenplay, we get the dead idea and its script are very impressive, and after watching the movie its clear that he hadnt shown it through his ideas.

The cinematography is an important factor in making the movie a commercial success. When you watch the movie you will get an idea about how the cinematographer has worked and the way he has shot the film, to be precise, the way he has shot some particular scenes is outstanding. And the way the camera is handled in the film is nothing to look at, with some improvised ideas you cant get what the director and the director of photography wanted to be. Their touch is unique and extraordinary, just because of the camera movements they had given in the movie and the way they had worked. Looking on the positive side, the editing and sound department have done their job well; as far as the music is concerned, and songs are concerned, the music department has beaten expectations. The way the songs are used, as far as I can understand that the song is an integral part of the film. The songs are used in the right way and every song is given full justice.

Sultan will be the third film in the Karthi-Rashmika-starrer Marumagan trio which includes Veera Marumagal and Jilla. Production for the film was announced in 2008. This is the third time around and there are talks of a big comeback for Rajinikanth, who is one of India’s most popular actors. The production planning for the Raamanan movie was in place in February 2007. Director Prasanna’s wife, Geetika Chaudhary, wrote the script, though she was not aware of its plot. The story of Thiruvalluvar’s life, which plays out over eight days, revolves around his hatred of luxury and his feelings for Harini (Sivakarthikeyan). Geetika originally wrote in five songs and most of them were set to music. Music director Jayakrishnan, who directed the Carnatic composer P.V. Sindhu to the Tamil music director M. K. Saravanan as well as Thillana Mohanambal and Vaanam, agreed to direct the songs for Raamanan. I think, then, the critics and the fans will be much more quick to spot the influence of the Tollywood masters who have learned the tricks of the trade in constructing movie narratives. And I suspect, as the film moves from Big Screen to Smaller Screen, it will be the filmmakers who will limit the scope of the film with smaller casts and smaller budgets. One of the things this film makes crystal clear is the bottom line – this is an expensive exercise and the Biggest Hero in this film has only himself as a victim. Yeah and Jayal would be such a nice guy to work with. His films do an average job of promoting Tamil cinema at a national level. This script must have been written by an ACP. If atleast we could have gotten the original story, we would have gotten a better film. But the use of an abandoned fort, something that is not even known from history only to make a film where the heroine is sent to jail isn’t some original thinking. Sounds nice! 5ec8ef588b
